Pilot – game, novel, interaction.
The lives of a human woman and an alien parasite intersect on a far-flung world – Pilot is a two player visual-novel game created solo in Ren’py over the span of a year for a Master of Design at Massey University, 2016. It examines the role of the other – human and alien – within science fiction through narrative, character design and interactivity, considering both modern sci-fi media and the historical precedent of colonialism that sci-fi is born from.
Play alone or with a friend – communicate both within and outside of the game space in order to create a cohesive narrative experience. There are 24 possible endings (experienced as both the human and alien) over 200 fully illustrated images, and a soundtrack by Pengosolvent.
